STUDLAND RIDING STABLES - February Newsletter

Xmas festivities

Greetings from Studland Stables!

Christmas and New Year celebrations are now a distant, but very pleasant memory – it was good to sandwich a beach ride between breakfast and alcohol! The staff have been petitioning to make it a more regular feature… what do you think?

It was reassuring to know some of you are as mad as us and didn’t hesitate to enter into the festivities by dressing up for the Christmas Eve ride – although we think Lead Rider Diana definitely won the ‘random costume’ prize. Her outfit has prompted some ideas about special Easter rides!

Group picture at yard

January has been a quiet month for us so we have been using the time to bring back into fitness some of the horses that been on reduced workloads for various reasons. We spent the first few weeks battling the freezing temperatures to keep water flowing which then iced over within hours of being broken. Now, we are knee deep in mud! Oh well, the joys of our English weather.

Please read on for more news, special offers and 'feature ride' dates.

We look forward to seeing you again soon,
Helen and Stuart.

Facebook - Special Offer

Day Rides with a Pub Lunch?

Day Rides with pub lunch

February sees the start of our monthly day rides – they are usually on the first Sunday of the month. These are a great way of really escaping the rigmaroles of everyday life, fresh air, beautiful countryside, good company, the smell of horse in your nostrils, and a pub lunch to keep you going. (Good exercise as well if you new years resolution is flagging…) Minimum ability is confident in canter and the fitness to ride for 4/5 hours! Don’t forget if you can get a minimum of 4 riders together (5 at weekends) we can put on a 'Day Ride' just for you!

Sunday March 1st - Day ride to the Castle Inn @ Corfe Castle
Sunday April 5th - Day ride to the Halfway Inn @ Wareham

Britains Next Top Model……Horse!

Two Socks

The more observant among you may have spotted some of our gorgeous horses modeling Shires turnout rugs. They have been in two shoots so far and quite enjoy the whole pampering process that precedes the photographer arriving.

Those of you who know our chestnut thoroughbred Two Socks will agree this is probably the career he was born for! See more pics on our facebook group.

Special Winter Offers

We have repeated our ‘Mid-week riding’ deal. A 1 hour ride booked on Tuesday or Thursday (ex. School holidays) during February and March is just £25! If you, or someone you know, has been saying they would love to get back into riding, this could be just the opportunity. During half term week any children under 16 receive a £5 discount on their ride.

See our 'Seasonal Rides' page for more information

Evening Beach Rides

Finally, if the thought of riding a horse on a beach in the warm glow of an early summers evening will help you through the rest of the winter – we are taking bookings for our May and June 'Evening Beach' rides.
